Hi friend,
I have been putting this newsletter off for a long time, probably because I keep doubting that I am a good writer or that nobody will be interested in reading what I have to say.
But starting from zero also have it's pros. I have no subscribers, hence no expectations on the content I am producing. I can allow myself to make mistakes, improve with every iteration and gather feedback as I go.
Just fu**ing start

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.

We all have great ideas. But most of the time we don't act on them. I'm also very guilty of that. The idea of this newsletter has been sitting with me for months, with great ideas for different topics coming and going.
Sometimes I write them down, or record a voice memo. Other times, I don't even bother because I doubt anyone would care about that topic.
But so what if nobody cares? The beauty of starting out is that I get complete freedom to explore my creative sides, try out different ideas and putting them out in the world, without worrying that I will loose 10,000 subscribers.
Beat perfectionism and overcome your fears
The best way to reach your goals and desired outcomes is not to waddle around in life daydreaming about them or keeping them in your notes app. Take the first towards it right now. Today. Even if it seems small.
- That book idea you have? Open up google docs or another basic app and write the first sentence.
- Want to get in shape? Make a quick list of gyms or other types of fitness activities near you.
- That friend or family member you keep thinking about? Send them a simple text asking how they are.
These actions might seem insignificant right now. But tomorrow, you take another step. You write a couple more sentences on that book. You visit the gym and ask for a trial run. You start to reconnect with that friend you have been neglecting. Over time, those actions will compound.
I had no idea where the first iteration of this newsletter would take me. But the magic of actually doing something instead of thinking about it is that it is infinitely easier to continue to do something once you get going.
Think about it like pushing a car. It's a lot easier to push it once it's already rolling.
So what is this newsletter actually about?
There are so many projects I am tackling right now that I am starting to feel overwhelmed. But since I am such a nerd, I could not help myself to start a weekly newsletter as well.
LifePatches are intended to be weekly tips and tricks that you can implement into your own life to enforce healthier habits and improve your life. It's a broad statement, I know. But that's also the beauty, I get the freedom to explore a diverse range of topics and share those that I think might be especially useful to you.
I am particularly interested in optimizing for exercise and movement habits now at the start of 2026. Next week, I plan on writing about the power of gym habits and a practical guide to how you can get started!
With love,
Erik
